3 Quick Tips for Booking Your Perfect Engagement Session
1. Find a photographer you vibe with.
Finding a photographer is kind of like dating. You might have to talk to a few before you find the one. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions before booking your engagement session. It's important to find a photographer whose work you like but also who you get along with and feel comfortable with. Many couples choose to use the same photographer for their engagement session and wedding. Engagement sessions are a great way to break-the-ice and get to know your photographer before the actual wedding day.
2. Schedule for the best light.
As photographers, it's probably no surprise to hear we're suckers for good lightning.
If you've looked around at different artists, you may have found that every photographer has a unique style or vibe to their work. The type of lighting plays a big role in both style and feel of a photograph.
We love photographing couples close to or during golden hour- the hour leading up to sunset. During golden hour and in the early morning you'll likely get softer lighting and, if weather permits, rays of sunshine. For more contrast and bold look, higher sun (think mid-morning or mid-afternoon) works well.
3. Choose two looks Let's be real- not everyone loves the idea of getting photos taken. Opting for two outfits means you each get to choose an outfit that makes you both feel confident, comfortable, and most like yourself. This will absolutely translate in your final gallery!
